Kyle J. Martin is Of Counsel at Rooney IP, LLC.  He is a registered Patent Attorney specializing in the strategic protection of complex innovations in mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies. Leveraging his background in the mechanical arts, Kyle provides counsel from initial invention disclosure through global patent prosecution and enforcement. He manages the preparation and prosecution of U.S., international, and foreign utility and design patent applications, and develops prosecution strategies, provides counsel on IP agreements, licensing, and other intellectual property matters.
 
Kyle’s deep technical fluency allows him to excel in securing protection for a wide array of specialized systems and equipment. He has experience providing strategic IP protection for diverse medical devices, including those across cardiologic, neurologic, ophthalmic, dental, endodontic, orthodontic, orthopedic, and laparoscopic disciplines. His patent expertise further extends to securing protection for automated machinery, access control systems, agricultural equipment, heavy machinery, and advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive and subtractive manufacturing. Beyond patent law, Kyle is active in related areas of intellectual property, including trademark procurement and enforcement and copyright matters.
 
His ability to quickly grasp and articulate complex issues is rooted in his past professional roles as a civil and structural engineer experienced in system design and implementation. His engineering experience includes designing and implementing pipe racks, retention ponds, cooling towers, distillery systems, assembly lines, and high energy piping systems.
